Election Details
Polls Open 7:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Important Dates and Information:
- The Primay Election will be held on Tuesday, June 2.
- Polling places will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Election Day.
- Absentee ballot request forms can be submitted starting, Tuesday, March 24, for the Primary Election.
- The first day absentee ballots can be mailed is Wednesday, May 13.
- Absentee voting in-person will begin on Wednesday, May 13, at the Auditor's Office.
- The deadline to submit an absentee ballot request form, to receive a MAILED ballot, is 5:00 p.m. on Monday, May 18. Absentee ballot request forms must be in the office by 5:00 p.m. Postmarks do not count!
- The pre-registration deadline for voter registration closes at 5:00 p.m. Monday, May 18 (postmarks count for registration).
- Absentee voting in-person will end at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, June 1.
- Voted absentee ballots must be received in the Election Office by 8:00 p.m. on Election Day (June 2). Voters casting their absentee ballot pursuant to UOCAVA or Safe at Home should review their absentee ballot instructions for additional guidance.
Voter Registration
Pre-registration deadline for voter registration closes at 5:00 p.m. Monday, May 18, 2026. Persons wishing to participate in this election who register to vote after May 18, 2026, will be required to provide proof of identification (i.e. current and valid photo identification card with an expiration date), AND proof of residency in their voting precinct, when they go to the polls on election day, or when they request an absentee ballot. Other provisions may also apply. Persons not registered to vote by May 18, 2026, should expect a longer processing time at the polls on election day.
Absentee Ballots
Absentee Ballot Request Forms will be accepted beginning Tuesday, March 24, 2026. Ballots will be available to be mailed and vote in-person beginning Wednesday, May 13, 2026.
- The last day to request an absentee ballot to be mailed to a voter for this election is Monday, May 18, 2026. (Postal delivery is now two to five days each way.)
- In-person absentee voting in the office of the Adair County Auditor opens at 8:00 a.m on Wednesday, May 13, 2026.
- In-person absentee voting in the office of the Adair County Auditor closes at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, June 2, 2026.
- Requests for absentee ballots must be in writing and should be mailed or delivered to:

Mailed absentee ballots that have been voted MUST be returned no later than 8:00 p.m. on ELECTION DAY, Tuesday, June 2, 2026 to be considered on time to be counted.
Extended Hours
Extended hours are available for voter registration and absentee voting in the Adair County Auditor’s Office. In addition to regular hours of Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., extended office hours during the 2026 Primary Election season will be as follows:
- Friday, March 20 - 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Monday, March 30 - 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Thursday, April 16 - 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Monday, May 18 - 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Friday, May 29 - 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Saturday, May 30 - 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Tuesday, June 2 - 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.* or later, depending on election activities
- Wednesday, June 10 - 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Recount Request Deadline)
