Election Details - March 3, 2026
Polls Open 7:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Important Dates and Information:
- The City/School Election will be held on Tuesday, March 3.
- Polling places (Anita Community Center) will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Election Day.
- Absentee ballot request forms can be submitted now for the City/School Election.
- The first day absentee ballots can be mailed is Wednesday, February 11.
- Absentee voting in-person will begin on Wednesday, February 11, at the Cass County Election Office, within the Cass County Courthouse 5 West 7th Street, Atlantic, IA.
- The deadline to submit an absentee ballot request form, to receive a MAILED ballot, is 5:00 p.m. on Monday, February 16. Absentee ballot request forms must be in the office by 5:00 p.m. Postmarks do not count!
- The pre-registration deadline for voter registration closes at 5:00 p.m. Monday, February 16.
- Absentee voting in-person will end at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, March 2.
- Voted absentee ballots must be received in the Election Office by 8:00 p.m. on Election Day. Voters casting their absentee ballot pursuant to UOCAVA or Safe at Home should review their absentee ballot instructions for additional guidance.
Voter Registration
Pre-registration deadline for voter registration closes at 5:00 p.m. Monday, February 16, 2026. Persons wishing to participate in this election who register to vote after February 16, 2026 , will be required to provide proof of identification (i.e. current and valid photo identification card with an expiration date), AND proof of residency in their voting precinct, when they go to the polls on election day, or when they request an absentee ballot. Other provisions may also apply. Persons not registered to vote by February 16, 2025, should expect a bit longer processing time at the polls on election day.
Absentee Ballots
Absentee Ballot Request Forms will be accepted beginning Tuesday, December 23, 2025. Ballots will be available to be mailed and vote in-person beginning Wednesday, February 11, 2026.
- The last day to request an absentee ballot to be mailed to a voter for this election is Monday, February 16, 2026. (Postal delivery is now two to five days each way.)
- In-person absentee voting in the office of the Cass County Auditor opens at 8:00 a.m on Wednesday, February 11, 2026.
- In-person absentee voting in the office of the Cass County Auditor closes at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, March 2, 2026.

Voted absentee ballots returned by mail MUST be returned no later than 8:00 p.m. on ELECTION DAY, Tuesday, March 3, 2026 to be considered on time to be counted.
