Landfill
Please call the Landfill at 641-743-8343 if you have any questions about items accepted or fees. These fees must be paid for with cash or check only. No credit or debit cards are accepted.
2026 Adair County Landfill Saturday Schedule: May through September we will be open the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month unless noted differently. October through April we will only be open the 1st Saturday of the month unless noted differently. January 3rd, February 7th, March 7th, April 4th and 25th for city of Stuart clean up, May 2nd city of Menlo and city of Casey clean up and the May 16th, June 6th and 20th, July 18th. We will be closed July 4th for Independence Day Weekend. August 1st and 15th, September 19th. We will be closed September 5th for Labor Day Weekend. October 3rd, November 7th and December 5th.
Fees
Just a reminder as scheduled in October of 2023 the 2nd half of our rate increase will go in effect Jan 1st 2025, the tipping fee will increase to $90 per ton. The minimum fee will remain the same at $25. These rate increases are a result of tipping fee increases at the landfill we haul our waste to.

- $15.00 per item disposal fee
refrigerators, freezers, dehumidifiers, air conditioners, microwaves, stove, washers, dryers, dishwashers, hot water heaters
Tires
All tires are $.20/ pound.
E-Waste/Electronics
- TV and Computer Screens/Monitors
- 21" and under: $15.00 each
- 21" - 40": $25.00 each
- 41" and up: $30.00 each
- Printers, CPU, Towers, Fax, VCRs, DVDs: $5.00 each
Household Hazard Waste
- Please contact the office.
Recycling
The following items incur no charge if they are separated.
- Oil (if not contaminated)
- Automotive lead acid batteries
- Metal/tin cans (do not remove labels or lids, but do rinse)
- Corrugated Cardboard (must be clean and dry)
- Newspapers (do not bag; what comes with the newspaper can be recycled, including ads, phonebooks, magazines, and office paper)
- Glass (clear or colored, but must be see-through; no porcelain, ceramic, or plates)
- Plastics (#1 - #7 are accepted, find this number on the bottom of the container)
- No plastic bags or styrofoam
Metal
Metal can be recycled at no charge if separated from the garbage.
